Tabernacle lock repair, key making, tabernacle keys, and custom repairs.

I hope you enjoy a few pictures of a job I did recently on a Tabernacle. Most of these units were made many many years ago and can never be identified as to manufacturer. The artisans that created them were working for the glory of God so did not mark their own names or company names on their creations. In this case I consulted with religious goods suppliers and locksmiths on 5 continents trying to find keyblanks and more information about it. Finally I had to have the key blanks hand produced by the well known locksmith and safe technician Edison Gimenez of Montevideo, Uruguay. Edison is an expert at producing small quantities of obsolete key blanks by example or specification.

Since doing this job we have repaired several similar locks, made replacments for damaged pieces, and made more replacment keys. Do you have a job we could do for you? Please call me. Ray Hearn 314-481-2525

Here is a few views of the key blanks as they took shape in his hands.

These pictures show the key just after the handle loop was formed and the blade area is still fully round. This is where the real work begins. I understand that Edison took several days to fabricate these 2 key blanks.

This shows the blade area formed. These 2 finished blank pictures were taken 5 days after the two pictures above!

Nice work. Now after being shipped across the 3 Americas I can begin my job of cutting them down to the final shape and making them to operate the lock.

Here are the two keys after being shaped to fit the lock and in the process of recieving the final finishing to make them presentable. Lots of hand work to get from the rough state (left) to the nearly finished state (right).

Now that is a job that we can take pride in!
Thanks for looking.
